George Francis Craddock in 1918

Inducted July 25, 1918, at Lebanon, Missouri, as American involvement in World War I deepened. Served in Co. "F", 70th Infantry from August 10, 1918, to January 14, 1919. The Armistice was signed on November 11, 1918, ending World War I, by which time over 2,000,000 American soldiers had been sent to France. He was honorably discharged as a Private on January 17, 1919, at Camp Funston, Kansas, having never left the continental U.S. George Francis Craddock's Serial Number was 3797169.

James Allen Davis (holding youngest daughter Estia Loe Davis) and 2nd wife Sarah Jane Lawson, both seated, at home on their farm near Stoutland, Missouri, on Sept. 12, 1907.

James Allen Davis was born Nov. 6, 1845, in Missouri, and died Sept. 3, 1930, in Laclede County, Missouri. His second wife Sarah Jane Lawson was born Oct. 1, 1860, in Missouri, and died Feb. 2, 1940 in Laclede County. Both are buried at the Dowty Cemetery, also in Laclede County. They were married on Nov. 9, 1879, in Laclede County, about five months after James A. Davis's first wife, Nancy J. Yadin, died in childbirth.

Estia Loe Davis, in father's lap, was the youngest of James A. Davis's fifteen children, being born on April 28, 1898. Six were born to his first wife, Nancy Yadin, and the remaining nine to his second wife Sarah Jane Lawson. Children born to Nancy Yadin, in order of birth from first to last, are: Louisa Davis, Andrew Jackson Davis, Dora I. Davis, William Alfred Davis, Carrie Alice Davis, and Jay W. Davis. Children born to Sarah Jane Lawson, in order of birth from first to last, are: James Elmer Davis, Bedford Davis, Marcella Davis, Altha Jane Davis, Knoles Bennedict Davis, Ida Mae Davis, Henry Everett Davis, Eula Ann ("Annie") Davis, and Estia Loe Davis.
